Senior Support Professional
The addition of this degree will provide students with an
opportunity to help others live a holistic and independent life. Employment trends are projected to increase substantially
due to the increase in the number of elderly people, an age group that often has mounting health problems and that needs
some assistance with daily activities and may rely on home care. This trend reflects several other developments in health
care. Inpatient care in hospitals and nursing homes can be extremely expensive, so more patients return to their homes from
these facilities as quickly as possible to contain costs. Treatment can be more effective in familiar surroundings. The
education and support of spouses, children, friends and family networks is an added-value feature to this program. Finally,
home care has become easier and more feasible with the development of better medical technologies for in-home treatment.
