Financial Aid
If you are planning to receive financial aid to fund your education, please follow these steps:
Apply for a Department of Education PIN (personal identification number).
- Apply for your PIN at www.pin.ed.gov.
- The student and at least one parent (if applicable) should apply for a PIN before completing the FAFSA.
- The PIN will serve as the electronic signature when filing the FAFSA.
Apply for Federal Financial Aid through the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
- Complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
- Include both Kilian Community College's and Presentation College’s school codes: 015000 for KCC, 003467 for PC.
- Be sure and have your (spouse, if applicable and parent(s), if applicable) tax return handy to answer the financial questions.
- Sign the FAFSA form electronically with your PIN (parent PIN, if applicable) for faster processing.
- After the FAFSA has been submitted, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) via email or mail.
If you take out a loan, complete a Master Promissory Note and Entrance Loan Counseling.
- Any student that receives a federal Stafford loan, subsidized or unsubsidized, is required to complete the loan application. This can be completed online here.
- Any student that receives a federal Stafford loan, subsidized or unsubsidized, is required to complete entrance loan counseling. This can be completed online here.
- Be sure and have your (spouse, if applicable and parent(s), if applicable) tax return handy to answer the financial questions.
Check to see what other funding options may be available.
- Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) — If you qualify for BIA funds, you should start by contacting your local BIA Agency. Paperwork completed early will ensure timely arrival of your funding.
- Vocational Rehabilitation — Financial aid is available for mentally or physically disabled persons. Contact your local Vocational Rehabilitation office.
- Veterans — Students enrolled at Presentation Collage are eligible to apply for Veterans' Benefits. To apply for benefits, contact a Veterans' Service Officer or the Registrar at Presentation College.
- National Guard Benefits — Members of the National Guard may qualify for 50% tuition assistance and monthly stipends under the Chapter 1606 or 1607 program. Contact your commanding officer for more information.
- Workforce Investment Act (WIA) — This is a program funded by the South Dakota Department of Labor. Economically disadvantaged students may qualify for grants in certain educational programs. Contact the South Dakota Department of Labor within your area.
- Scholarships – You may be able to earn scholarships based on achievement and/or need through a number of different sources. One place to check is the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation.
Once you are registered for classes, you will be sent an award letter detailing how much aid you are eligible to receive.
